How strong is the corrosion resistance of 904L alloy stainless steel plate?

2025-07-10

904L alloy stainless steel plate is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel with extremely strong corrosion resistance, especially in acidic environments. Its corrosion resistance advantages are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

Resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC): 904L stainless steel contains high nickel and chromium content, as well as an appropriate amount of copper, which effectively prevents stress corrosion cracking in environments with high chloride content.

Acid corrosion resistance: 904L performs well in a variety of acidic media such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and acetic acid. It is especially suitable for use in high-concentration sulfuric acid and low-temperature conditions, and can effectively resist the erosion of these corrosive acids.

Resistance to pitting and pitting: Thanks to its high chromium and copper content, 904L alloy has excellent resistance to pitting and pitting in seawater and other corrosive liquids, and is often used in the chemical and marine engineering fields.

Oxidation resistance: Although 904L is mainly an acid-resistant alloy, it also has strong resistance to high-temperature oxidation and can maintain good corrosion resistance in high-temperature environments.

In general, 904L alloy stainless steel plates are suitable for a variety of extreme corrosive environments and are often used in chemical industry, marine equipment, heat exchangers, petroleum refining and other fields, especially in places requiring higher corrosion resistance.
